About Sycamore Tree

In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 19 we read the following:

He came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town.
Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man,
was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature.
So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way.
When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.”
And he came down quickly and received him with joy.
When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.”
But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over.”
And Jesus said to him, “Today salvationc has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham.
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.”

It’s our goal to be like that tree that allowed Zacchaeus a better view of Jesus.

And how do we do that? Through four main vehicles:

  1. Open-air presentations
We provide though-provoking and engaging presentations that get people to think. In our electronic age it’s amazing how receptive people are to a live, cheerful presenter patiently laying out the Church’s position and reasons for faith.
  2. Does God Exist meetups
Meetup.com provides an online directory of real-world events. Does God Exist has been a popular meetup that tackles the classic and contemporary arguments for the existence of God. A large number of attendees are atheists and agnostics. Lively discussion encompassing of all parts of the life of faith make their way into the evening. This has proven a great avenue for encouraging dialogue between people of various viewpoints while highlighting the Christian position.
  3. Online training and events
We’ll soon be launching our online training platform, NewPodium.com that will provide a full-service classroom environment specifically for Catholic evangelism, apologetics and catechism.
  4. Parish workshops and presentations
Invite a Sycamore Tree speaker/presenter to your parish for one of our workshops or presentations on topics like:

    • How To Effectively Evangelize Family Members
    • Why Atheism Requires A Leap Of Faith
    • How To Start A REAL Parish Evangelism Program
    • Apologetics For The Parents Of Ex-Catholics
    • Apologetics Mastery Workshop (1, 2, 3 & 5 day options)
